Chemical Peel New York, Improved Skin Tone & Texture

Chemical Peels

Aging, sun exposure, acne, and other factors can damage your skin, making your face look older and more worn out. Chemical peels remove the outer layer of damaged skin to mitigate the signs of aging, reduce the appearance of scars and blemishes, and give your skin a more even, healthy glow. Dr. Seidenberg offers a variety of different chemical peels, ranging from superficial to deep peels, to help you achieve fresher and younger looking skin. Dr. Seidenberg has lectured on 'Chemical Peels' at the Orlando Cosmetic Dermatology Meeting and at the Annual NYU Advances in Dermatology Meeting.

What can be treated? What results can be expected? Procedure Recovery
Fine lines and wrinkles Smoother skin surface Can last from 5-45 minutes depending on the type and strength of the peel. No downtime for an acne peel
Blotchy or uneven skin tone Healthier glow
Acne  More even skin tone Performed in office 1-3 days of redness/ peeling for a superficial peel
Brown spots (lentigenes) Improvement in the appearance of scars, wrinkles, and blemishes May require one or more treatments A week in hiding for a deep peel
Sun damaged skin Fresher and more youthful looking skin Most peels require no pain medication; deeper peels may require mild pain medication

Chemical peels are done in the office and can take from five to forty-five minutes, depending on the strength of the peel.  For most patients, a chemical peel will feel like a sunburn, with some redness in the skin, followed by scaling and flaking of dead skin for several days after the peel.  Deeper chemical peels will flake more significantly and may require mild pain medication during the peel.  After a chemical peel, patients are advised to wear sunblock to protect the new skin.

While all procedures carry some risk and uncertainty, a chemical peel is normally a safe procedure when it is performed by a qualified, experienced dermatologist.  Dr. Seidenberg will meet with you to discuss your individual situation and any side effects that you may experience.  This will help you decide what type of chemical peel will work best to achieve the results you are seeking.  Request an appointment online or call today to set up a consultation with Dr. Seidenberg.
